Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth – Children’s Book Review

Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth – Children’s Book Review

Funny, cute story with one of the most interesting illustrations that I have seen in recent times. There are many beautiful books on Ganesha available for kids these days and this one can be easily added to the “must-read on Ganesha” collection for little readers. This book presents Ganesha as a funny, little child with his different antics that young readers can easily relate to.

Ganesha is just like any other kid, except that he has the head of an elephant and rides around on a magical mouse. He loves sweets, one day Ganesha insists on biting into a super jumbo jawbreaker laddoo, and his tusk breaks off! With the help of the wise poet Vyasa and his friend mouse, Ganesha learns that what seems broken can be quite useful after all.

Even though it’s a mythological story but the way it has been retold, it makes you chuckle at different pages and finally leaves you with a smile at the end.

There are some debates around whether the story has presented all the facts correctly or has it been written to suit a certain type of audience, but then that’s the case with any mythological book. It’s hard to always verify all the facts and present it as it is.

Overall a book that we loved reading and we especially loved the illustration style. Very different and very unique, something that suited this genre brilliantly well and attracted our attention from start to end.

This book is available for purchase on all major e-commerce sites. In case your local library has started functioning, you may check for a copy there. And in case you would like to enjoy a read-aloud version of this book, you may listen to this story at the ‘Marissa Rivera Read Aloud Books’ channel here.
