This is the retelling of an old folktale. Of course, this story has a Pinkney style ending. The Little Billy Goats Gruff is the story of three goats who work to make their way across the bridge. In their way, the grass is greener and all of their friends reside. But there is an evil troll under the bridge who won’t let them pass, as he is hungry.
Later unwillingly the troll lets the goats pass the bridge one-by-one. He is only scared about the biggest goat crossing the bridge. Each and every goat takes a firm stand against the troll, they stand up to overcome his mean actions. Through the dialogues and illustrations, the author keeps the readers engaged with the story.
Can you guess the fate of the troll? Pinkney asks the readers to decide the fate of the troll. Isn’t this a unique approach? We feel this is one of those best approaches to enhance engagement for the book. What a unique replica of an old tale! Readers will surely relate to the story and will definitely discuss the ending of the book.
A fantastic re-telling! The illustrations are just incredible, with a variety of stunning prospects. The way Pinkney decided to end the story was exceptional. Add this amazing book to your kids reading list.
