The tales of Panchatantra are ancient Indian animal fables, in a short story format. “The Stork and The Crab” is one of those amazing short stories from Panchatantra with a great moral. It is the story of a cunning stork and a wise crab. There is a pond which was home for fishes, crabs and many more. A stork who sees the pond feels happy as he got lots of fish to eat. As time passes the stork gets weaker and this makes him think of a plan.

Finally, he comes up with a cunning plan and starts making friends with fishes and crab in the pond. After gaining their trust completely. Now the stork starts implementing its cunning plan to eat them away on a daily basis. The pond they are living in is drying up, the cunning stork uses the situation cleverly and tells them that she has found a new pond somewhere near and she would take few of them daily to the new pond. Everyone in the pond is delighted. Daily the stork is taking some fishes from this pond and eating them secretly near a big stone. One day a crab asks the stork to save him too.
